What are the early signs of pregnancy?
Are you wondering whether you’re pregnant?
1. FATIGUE
Intense, inexplicable fatigue is probably the most common indication of pregnancy. Therefore, if you are suspecting that you might be pregnant, do not try to fight tiredness with excessive caffeine consumption. On the contrary, “listen” to your body, and give yourselves some rest and tranquility.
2. DISTASTE FOR CERTAIN FOODS
If, all of a sudden, you don’t want to see in front of you what you loved eating before, you are probably pregnant. Do not worry, it is transient.
3. SENSITIVITY TO ODOURS
If smells you are used to, or are pleasant to you, such as your partner’s cologne, suddenly become extremely unpleasant to you, then you might be pregnant. You cannot do much about it, just try to avoid the odour that is bothering you. And, most importantly, avoid cigarette smoke which, is both harmful to you and your baby.
4. NAUSEA AND VOMITING
Increase of hormonal production and secretion during pregnancy may cause nausea and vomiting. The good news is that, most of the time, this stops by the third month. Keep some crackers close to you, so that you don’t need to get up in the morning with an empty stomach. Eat small meals and frequently. Adding a bit of lemon, mint or ginger in water may help with the nausea. If you are vomiting too frequently, we will discuss it and relieve your symptoms.
5. INCREASED MICTURITION FREQUENCY
As your pregnancy progresses, the uterus is growing and may start to press on your bladder. There is not effective way to prevent it. Make sure to avoid drinking too many fluids before going to bed, because chances are you will have to get up often during the night.
6. BREATHLESSNESS
Some women may feel some breathlessness at the beginning of their pregnancy, or even later on. This is due to the increasing amount of oxygen needs of a pregnant woman’s body, and is absolutely normal. This usually occurs when walking, during exercise, or after having eaten. If you feel pain as well, or you’re out of breath while seated, you are advised to discuss it with your doctor.
7. SWELLING & PAIN OF THE BREASTS
Another early sign of pregnancy. Change your bra to something more comfortable like sports bras which offer better support.
